BROOKLYN, NY — Assemblywoman Joan L. Millman (D/WF – Brooklyn) will sponsor two events for seniors in the 52nd Assembly District. On Thursday, August 14th, seniors will be treated to a free showing of critically acclaimed “SeaBiscuit” at the Cobble Hill Cinema and on Friday, August 15th, seniors will be able to apply for their reduced fare metrocards at the Metrocard Mobile Van in front of the Assemblywoman’s District Office.
On August 14th at 12:00 pm, Assemblywoman Millman has rented the Cobble Hill Cinema for a private viewing of SeaBiscuit for 125 seniors in her district. This was made possible by a grant from Independence Community Foundation and the cooperation of Cobble Hill Cinema. Millman said, “For the past three years I have provided seniors with a special opportunity to enjoy popular movies. I always receive an overwhelming response from the community and look forward to continuing this event in the years to come,” said Millman.
Friday, August 15th, Assemblywoman Millman will bring the Mobile Metrocard Van to her district office, at 341 Smith Street, between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm. The Metrocard Van will provide seniors with a convenient opportunity to apply for their reduced fare Metrocards and receive temporary cards without the hassle of traveling downtown to Livingston Street. People with qualifying disabilities with a Medicare card and valid photo id can also apply for reduced fare metrocards.
Millman said, “I am pleased to bring the mobile van to my office to answer my constituents’ concerns and provide an easy way for seniors to get the reduced fair cards they are entitled to.”
These events are part of an ongoing effort by Assemblywoman Millman to provide accessible, informative constituent services to residents of the 52nd Assembly District.
