Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz has contacted the NYC Departments of Transportation and Buildings to help resolve a serious safety issue in Kingsbridge. The location is Naples Terrace between Broadway and Godwin Terrace.
In his letter to DOT and DOB he stated, “There are large cracks in the steps of Naples Terrace Step Street, where rodents have been seen running in and out. More importantly, the fence along the Naples Terrace Step Street is torn at the top of the steps, which has left a sizable hole. This step street is approximately two stories high and is in a residential area, making it dangerous to children. I am very concerned about this and look for it to be fixed immediately.
“The steps ascend for approximately two stories. The tear in the fence, which left a sizable hole, is located at the top of the steps. A small child could therefore easily fall through it.”
There is currently a dispute as to whether the fence involved is on property owned by the City or by a private landlord. “This confusion must be resolved immediately. The fence needs to be fixed now. It could literally be a matter of life or death,” said Assemblyman Dinowitz.
