Assemblyman Marcos A. Crespo will Co-Host a Youth Safety Summit with students from The Felisa Rincón de Gautier Institute for Law and Public Policy High School in Soundview to address some concerns over recent gun violence in the community.
The Youth Safety Summit will take place on Thursday, February 11th at 4:00 pm at the Soundview Educational Complex, located at 1440 Story Avenue in The Bronx.
Among the Guest Speakers to address the students and parents will be Deputy Inspector Charles Ortiz from the 43rd Precinct, Commanding Officer Vinnie Zica of the NYPD’s School Safety Division, Barbara Robles-Gonzalez, Director of Community Relations, Robert Spencer of the CONCEPT Program and Gerry Arrighi, Director of Operation Weed and Seed Bronx District Attorney Robert Johnson’s office.
“Principal Grismaldy Laboy-Wilson and I were discussing the many questions and concerns that students had with respect to recent gun violence in the community, and we believe that coordinating this forum will not only give them an opportunity to voice their concerns but also discuss strategies with law enforcement to address them and hopefully prevent further violence,” said Assemblyman Crespo. The Youth Safety Summit will be the first of a series of events to empower our youth on safety issues within our Soundview community.
