"It's important that we as a state, as a progressive state, that we set the future and we make sure that other states follow suit because make no mistake, preclearance was essential to our voting rights and we want to make sure that states follow, especially in the south, because if not many communities of color will lose their right and this will have a devastating impact on our voting rights," said Assemblyman Sepulveda while speaking on the Assembly floor in support of legislation which would ensure that voting rights are not denied on account of race, color or language.
