"My ongoing efforts over the past two years has been to restore building, fire, and safety codes in the Town of Ramapo, in the Village of Spring Valley. These efforts recently brought to light a disturbing situation. State investigators were in the Town of Ramapo in a private school and what they found were deplorable conditions. They found exposed wiring, they found dead bolted exit doors, they found an extension cord across a bathroom floor, as well as electrical devices without covers. All these conditions were signed off on as having no violations less than two or so weeks prior. The fact that this could happen in the Town of Ramapo, I think, is a crystal clear example of what I've said is a systematic and pervasive lack of code enforcement in these jurisdictions and the state needs to step in immediately," said Assemblyman Zebrowski.
