Assemblyman Zebrowski Encourages Residents to Participate in Great American Clean-Up

Assemblyman Kenneth Zebrowski (D-New City) announced that he will be hosting a team to clean up a section of Route 304 and Squadron Boulevard on April 14 as part of the Great American Clean-Up, a two-week-long event that works to clean up and improve communities throughout the country.

“I encourage everyone to join me and my team for this exciting event,” Assemblyman Zebrowski said. “The Great American Clean-Up will give Rockland families a chance to give back to our community while spending time together.”

The event, sponsored by Keep America Beautiful, is the country’s largest annual community involvement program, drawing an estimated 3.8 million volunteers each year. In 2011, volunteers donated over 5.3 million hours to clean up and improve more than 16,500 communities nationwide.

The clean-up efforts focus on beautifying parks and recreation areas, cleaning up seashores and waterways, collecting recyclables, picking up trash, planting trees and flowers and conducting educational programs and litter-free events.i

The event will take place on Saturday, April 14, from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m., with a rain date of Sunday, April 15, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Assemblyman Zebrowski’s team will meet at 11 a.m. in the New City commuter lot located on Route 304, and will clean up a section of road on Route 304 and Squadron Boulevard in New City. Anyone interested in participating in the clean up should contact Assemblyman Zebrowski’s office at 845-634-9791.

“We are fortunate to live in an area that boasts a number of natural assets and recreation areas,” Assemblyman Zebrowski said. “We owe it to our community to keep it clean and beautiful.”
