"I'm really heartened to hear the consensus of opinion among my colleagues here in the legislature about our commitment to ensuring that the direct care workers, the consumer direct workers, the people who do the heavy lifting to care for the most vulnerable and allow them to live independently...that money is there for all of those people to get the care and to make sure that profession has the dignity going forward," said Assemblywoman Barrett during a meeting of the Joint Budget Conference Committee on Mental Hygiene.
