"It surprised me to find out that coroners aren't required to have any training on investigation. My colleague points out a very good point, we don't expect them to be medical examiners by any stretch of the imagination, but I think the basic primal points to do doing a medical investigation on a death is an important aspect," said Assemblymember McDonald, the author of this bill, as he spoke about legislation that would require training for coroners and coroner's deputies prior to taking office (A5780B).
