"This bill expands on the successful pilot research program that we began last year. We're one of a handful of starts that has begun to do pilot research on industrial hemp, and we are now amending that law passed last year to allow those pilot research projects to begin full- scale industry... For those of us with tracts of land and useable land and farmers and others who want to get into this line of work, New York state is going to be at the forefront of a brand-new industrial crop competing with the likes of Kentucky and a few other states that have gotten out in front of this," said Assemblywoman Lupardo, who sponsored a bill to allow the sale, distribution and transportation of industrial hemp.
