Crouse-University Advisory Council Would Satisfy Berger Commission

June 19, 2007
“I am very pleased that the state Health Department has tentatively approved the approach Crouse and University hospitals have put forth to form a joint advisory council to coordinate planning and identify areas of the hospitals that can be consolidated. These two hospitals are vital not only to residents of Syracuse but also to residents of Cortland, Ithaca and many surrounding areas.

“While this advisory committee will satisfy the Berger Commission’s recommendations for our local hospitals, I am still fighting the recommendation to close Lakeside Nursing Home in Ithaca. I will continue to fight to keep Lakeside open to ensure that our healthcare system focuses on what is important – patient care.”
