Assemblyman Stirpe Honors Fallen Deputy Searles in Ceremonial Signing of Legislation

Today, Governor Cuomo, Senator Valesky and Assemblyman Stirpe welcomed the family of Sherriff Deputy Glenn Searles for a ceremonial signing of legislation renaming a local bridge in his honor. Attending the ceremony were Deputy Searles’ parents Gary and Liz Searles, and brothers Geoffrey Searles and Jeremy Monica. In 2003, Deputy Searles tragically lost his life while assisting a motorist stranded on Interstate 481.

“Deputy Searles was a true hero, and his selflessness and dedication will keep his memory alive in all our hearts,” said Assemblyman Stirpe. “This memorial stands as a testament to the courage of Deputy Searles and of all the local law enforcement officers who put our safety above their own, as well as a reminder of the importance of using caution when passing stopped emergency vehicles.”
