Assemblyman Stirpe Reacts to the 2016 State of the State, Budget Proposal

“The agenda outlined by the governor today is a step in the right direction for Central New York and our state. Many of these proposals are in line with what I’ve been fighting for, including tax relief for businesses to help foster job creation, a substantial increase in education funding and full restoration of the GAP Elimination Adjustment, along with meaningful ethics reform to restore the public’s faith in our government.

“Perhaps the most encouraging aspect of the governor’s plan is the funding he has dedicated for upstate infrastructure, specifically initiatives that will modernize our roads and bridges, and make public transportation more affordable and accessible to all. This investment comes at a critical time for us here in Central New York, and for all of upstate. In the weeks ahead, I will carefully review the details of these proposals and work with my colleagues in the legislature to craft an on-time, fiscally responsible state budget that ensures the needs of our students, families and businesses are met.”
