McDonough-Sponsored Resolution Calls on Congress to Extend Medicare Part D Enrollment

Assemblyman David G. McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick) is calling on Congress to extend the deadline for senior citizens who want to register their participation in the Medicare Part D prescription drug benefit program.

“I have received many comments and complaints since the introduction of the new Medicare prescription drug program,” said McDonough. “Many seniors are having difficulty enrolling or selecting a plan. An extension of the deadline would ensure seniors do not lose vital prescription drug coverage because of the difficulties they are having understanding the program and its requirements.”

McDonough’s resolution requests Congress extend the registration deadline from May 15 to October 15. “This would assist our seniors to avoid any confusion they may have encountered deciding which plan is best for them or in gathering the necessary information to make a choice,” noted McDonough.
