Assemblywoman Barrett shares her personal journey as the parent of an adoptee, while explaining her support on legislation which establishes the Adoptee Bill of Rights to clarify language and procedures for obtaining birth certificates and medical histories of adoptees. "As a mother I have one birth child and one adopted child and so that kind of gives me a unique perspective on this even more that my daughter was born in Russia. She was born in 1991 at a time when you can kind of picture what was going on there. We have no opportunity to get her birth information, we have no opportunity to find out who her birth mother was who her birth father was, any of those things and here we are in a country and a state where we can do that for adoptees," said Assemblywoman Barrett.  A2901
