Assemblymember Barrett on Governor’s Climate Resilient Farming Grants

“Today’s announcement of another round of Climate Resilient Farming Grants to a small group of farms across the state is encouraging news that New York is willing to financially incentivize the time-honored practices that improve soil health and strengthen resiliency by increasing carbon sequestration. The next step for New York to be a true leader is to enact the Carbon Farming Act, A.3281, a statewide program that would benefit every farmer who incorporates climate smart practices through tax credits. The farms selected in this round of Climate Resilient Framing Grants are fortunate. Now let’s encourage every farmer to employ carbon farming practices to make this effort a win-win for New York’s environment and agricultural businesses.”
