Palmesano Signs On To Anti-Cyberbullying Bill
Joins Senator Tom O’Mara, Assemblyman Dean Murray and colleagues at press conference
May 2, 2012
Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C,I – Corning) today joined his colleagues at a joint press conference held by state Senator Tom O’Mara (R,C-Big Flats) and Assemblyman Dean Murray (R,C – East Patchogue) to unveil the Internet Protection Act (A.8688M/S.6779). The legislation would combat cyberbullying by allowing the victim of an anonymous website posting to request that the post be removed if the anonymous source is unwilling to attach his or her name to it.
"Cyberbullying has become all too prevalent, and it’s important that we take steps toward ensuring that our children can safely use the Internet without worrying about being harassed and put in dangerous situations by their peers," said Palmesano.
