Palmesano Commends Passage Of Bipartisan Agreement To Restore Developmentally Disabled Funding

Statement from Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C,I-Corning) commending passage of OPWDD funding restoration

Today, the Assembly showed what government can do when politics is set aside and lawmakers come together to do the right thing. The restoration of this $90 million in funding to the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities is essential to our developmentally disabled community, and the passage of this bill today reaffirms that reality.

The developmentally disabled are the most vulnerable among us and non-profits, such as the ARCs, Pathways and ABLE2, provide them with services paramount to their quality of life. I commend my colleague, Harvey Weisenberg, for his efforts in bringing this bill to the floor, and all of my colleagues on both sides of the aisle who strived to make this funding restoration a reality. I look forward to this bill passing the Senate and being signed into law by the Governor.
