Palmesano, Area Legislators Promote Holiday Drive For The Troops

Tuesday, December 9 deadline quickly approaching

In keeping with his commitment to the brave members of our armed forces, Assemblyman Phil Palmesano is encouraging his friends and neighbors in the 132nd Assembly District to participate in the annual Holiday Drive for the Troops. The drive is organized and coordinated by Sen. Mike Nozollio.

Palmesano is collaborating with his legislative colleagues to promote the drive, a cornerstone of area holiday giving.

“For most of us, the holiday season means relaxing and celebrating with family and friends. For our brave servicemen and women overseas, the holidays mean dangerous, tireless work and selfless sacrifice. Donating is a great way to say ‘thank you.’ Without the contributions of our brave soldiers, we would not enjoy the security and liberty that make the holidays possible,” said Palmesano.

All donated items will be sent to troops deployed overseas during the holidays.

Donations of nonperishable food items are encouraged. Some popular items include hard candy, gum, snacks, instant coffee and dry beverage mixes. Small entertainment and small clothing items also are appreciated.

Items can be dropped off at Assemblyman Palmesano’s District Office during normal business hours between 8:30 a.m. and 4: 30 p.m. The deadline to donate is the close of business on Tuesday, December 9. Questions about the drive, including alternative drop-off times, can be directed to Palmesano’s office at (607) 776-9691.
