Assemblyman Steve Hawley (R,I,C-Batavia) is reminding citizens to file a STAR Local Property Tax Rebate application with the State Department of Taxation and Finance if they believe they are eligible for the rebate but have yet to receive a check.
The deadline to file has been extended to January 22nd.
Because the application needs to be certified by the local assessor in each town, Hawley is directing constituents to contact their assessor’s office directly.
“I want to make sure all eligible citizens receive this much-needed relief,” said Hawley. “The rebates are a good start towards delivering long-term property tax reform to keep the people’s hard-earned dollars in their pockets, where it belongs.”
According to the Department of Taxation and Finance, over 3.3 million eligible homeowners have been sent a STAR rebate check since October.
Hawley is encouraging constituents to contact his Albion district office at (585) 589-5780 or the Department of Taxation and Finance at 1-877-678-2769 for additional questions.
