Hawley Named Minority Whip

Assemblyman also named ranking minority member on Veterans’ Committee

Assemblyman Steve Hawley (R,I,C-Batavia) recently announced that he is assuming many pivotal new roles, including Assembly Minority Whip and ranking minority member on the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.

“It is a great honor to be named Minority Whip, which will allow me to help lead the Assembly Minority Conference as we fight to create a better New York for all of our families,” said Hawley, who previously served as Deputy Minority Whip.

In addition to his work as the Minority Whip, Hawley also has been named to various committees including Ways and Means, Veterans’ Affairs, Agriculture, Insurance, and the Racing and Wagering Committee.

Hawley, who served seven years in the Ohio Army National Guard and the U. S. Army Reserves and leads an annual Patriot Trip to Washington D.C. for local veterans, expressed the honor he felt being named ranking minority member on Veterans’ Affairs.

“As ranking minority member on the Veterans’ Affairs Committee, I will have the opportunity to help support and honor the brave young men and women who answered the call to defend our freedoms and way of life as Americans,” said Hawley. “It is an honor to serve in this new capacity to bolster our commitment to our courageous veterans.”
