Protect our Second Amendment Rights
February 26, 2013

State government must do everything in its power to protect our families and communities. That can only be accomplished by cracking down on crime and the real criminals who threaten our safety. Unfortunately, that was not the goal of the gun control measure passed this year. Rather, this flawed bill was rushed into law in an effort to make national headlines.

Instead of taking the time and effort to pass a comprehensive bill that protects law-abiding citizens, the governor forced through legislation that infringes on our Second Amendment rights and turns law-abiding citizens into criminals. The governor has focused more on his future bid for president than protecting both our safety and our constitutional rights.

Many counties across New York have passed resolutions urging the state to repeal the NY SAFE Act, and you can bet they would have urged the legislature to vote “no” if they were given the opportunity. Instead, the public was completely shut out of this process and robbed of the right to make their voice heard. That’s why I started this petition – so that our law-abiding citizens have a chance to speak their minds and contribute to the safety of our state. Please join me in urging the repeal of this misguided legislation.
