Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay, Hannibal Village Leaders Announce $50,000 Grant For Community Enhancements
Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay (R,C-Pulaski) today announced he secured a $50,000 state grant for the Village of Hannibal for sidewalk replacement and repairs. The grant was awarded through the New York State Department of Transportation Multi-Modal Program, which assists municipalities with capital project enhancements.
Leader Barclay was recently joined by village and county officials on Cayuga Street where the first round of improvements was completed. The local leaders highlighted the significance of the grant in ensuring long-term upgrades and accessibility for the community. The funding will support ongoing maintenance needed to improve Hannibal’s sidewalk restructure. The next phase of sidewalk improvements is slated to begin on Auburn Street.
“I’m thrilled to see these much-needed upgrades being completed,” said Leader Barclay. “The revitalization of Hannibal’s sidewalks will not only benefit the safety of pedestrians but will also contribute to maintaining the infrastructure of this wonderful community. It’s a positive step for the village and prioritizes making public spaces accessible for everyone.”
“Infrastructure costs have gone up considerably, and for a small village like ours, having the support to take care of some sidewalks takes some of the burden off our local taxpayers and at the same time, keeps people safe,” said Village of Hannibal Mayor Ron Greenleaf. “I am grateful to Assembly Minority Leader Barclay, our fearless defender for the grant, and look forward to continuing the sidewalk improvements the village has begun.”
