        Introduced  by  M.  of  A. L. ROSENTHAL -- read once and referred to the
          Committee on Labor
 
        AN ACT requiring the department of labor to conduct a study to determine
          and report on the potential impact of driverless vehicles  on  occupa-
          tions  and employment; and providing for the repeal of such provisions
          upon expiration thereof
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Study of the potential impact to vehicle transportation and
     2  delivery  systems.  The  commissioner  of  the department of labor shall
     3  engage in a study analyzing the potential impact of driverless  vehicles
     4  on occupations and employment and shall make a report on such findings.
     5    §  2.  Such  study  and  report carried out pursuant to this act shall
     6  address the following issues:
     7    (a) the potential impact of driverless vehicles on delivery and trans-
     8  portation services;
     9    (b) the potential loss of employment for those engaged in  occupations
    10  described by paragraph (a) of this section; and
    11    (c)  any other information the commissioner deems pertinent to include
    12  in said report related to this policy.
    13    § 3. The commissioner shall publish such report to the  governor,  the
    14  temporary  president  of  the  senate,  the speaker of the assembly, the
    15  senate committees on labor and transportation and assembly committees on
    16  labor and transportation no later than December 31, 2024.
    17    § 4. This act shall take effect immediately and shall  expire  and  be
    18  deemed repealed January 1, 2025.
