LANCMAN, ABBATE -- read once and referred to the Committee on Governmental Operations -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said commit- tee -- again reported from said committee with amendments, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT to amend the public officers law, in relation to certain residen- cy requirements for certain positions The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The section heading of section 3-b of the public officers 2 law, as amended by chapter 480 of the laws of 2010, is amended to read 3 as follows: 4 Special peace officers to be citizens; other residency requirements. 5 § 2. Section 3-b of the public officers law is amended by adding a new 6 subdivision 4 to read as follows: 7 4. Neither the provisions of this section or of any general, special 8 or local law, charter, code, ordinance, resolution, rule or regulation, 9 requiring a person to be a resident of the political subdivision or 10 municipal corporation of the state by which he or she is employed, shall 11 apply to a person employed by a city with a population of over one 12 million in the titles of special officer, senior special officer, prin- 13 cipal special officer and supervising special officer as "special offi- 14 cer" is defined in subdivision forty of section 2.10 of the criminal 15 procedure law, evidence and property control specialists, taxi and 16 limousine inspector, taxi and limousine inspector (motor vehicles), 17 senior taxi and limousine inspector, senior taxi and limousine inspector 18 (motor vehicles), associate taxi and limousine inspector, supervising 19 taxi and limousine inspector, supervising taxi and limousine inspector 20 (motor vehicles), education facilities officers L1 (formerly school 21 guards), education facilities officers L2 (formerly school safety offi- EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [] is old law to be omitted. LBD01391-04-1A. 289--B 2 1 cers), hospital security officers, campus security officer, campus peace 2 officer, college security specialist, campus public safety sergeant, 3 campus security assistant or school guard (school safety agent), 4 provided that he or she has completed two years of employment with the 5 city of New York and is a resident of New York, Kings, Queens, Bronx, 6 Richmond, Nassau, Westchester, Suffolk, Orange, Rockland or Putnam coun- 7 ty. 8 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
