        AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to compelling the board of
          elections to notify voters whenever a polling place location is to  be
          changed or moved
 

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Subdivision 2 of section  4-104  of  the  election  law  is
     2  amended to read as follows:
     3    2.  If  the board of elections, after designating a polling place, and
     4  after sending written notice of such polling place  to  each  registered
     5  voter,  designates  an alternative, or changes the location of a polling
     6  place, it must, at least  [five  days]  three  months  before  the  next
     7  election  or day for registration, send by mail a written notice to each
     8  registered voter notifying him or her of the changed  location  of  such
     9  polling  place  and  the board shall notify the general public through a
    10  comprehensive notification process, including but not limited to,  mail-

    11  ing post cards or posting notices at the previous polling place location
    12  and  throughout the local community where the previous polling place was
    13  originally located.   If such  notice  is  not  possible  the  board  of
    14  elections  must provide for an alternative form of notice to be given to
    15  voters and the general public at the location of  the  previous  polling
    16  place.
    17    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
