        AN  ACT  to  amend  the  mental  hygiene  law  and the education law, in
          relation to requiring the office of  alcoholism  and  substance  abuse
          services  to  establish  a curriculum in problem gambling which may be
          provided in grades four through twelve
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  Section  19.07  of  the  mental hygiene law is amended by
     2  adding a new subdivision (i) to read as follows:

     3    (i) The office of alcoholism and substance abuse services, in  consul-
     4  tation with the state education department, shall establish a curriculum
     5  for a course of instruction in adolescent problem gambling which may, at
     6  the  option  of  any  school, be provided in grades four through twelve.
     7  Such course of instruction shall include materials to  educate  students
     8  on the dangers and consequences of problem gambling, and shall be avail-
     9  able on the internet website of such office.
    10    §  2.  Section  305  of  the  education law is amended by adding a new
    11  subdivision 43 to read as follows:
    12    43. The commissioner shall make available, on the department  internet
    13  website, the curriculum of the course of instruction in adolescent prob-

    14  lem gambling established pursuant to subdivision (i) of section 19.07 of
    15  the mental hygiene law.
    16    § 3. This act shall take effect September 1, 2013.
