        Introduced by M. of A. CROUCH -- read once and referred to the Committee
          on Energy
 
        AN ACT to amend the public service law, in relation to the rates charged
          for electricity service to volunteer firefighter, ambulance, and emer-
          gency service organizations
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-

        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. The public service law is amended by adding a  new  section
     2  76-a to read as follows:
     3    §  76-a.  Rates  charged volunteer emergency service organizations. No
     4  gas corporation or electric corporation shall, directly  or  indirectly,
     5  charge, demand, collect or receive from any volunteer firefighter compa-
     6  ny,  volunteer ambulance company, or volunteer emergency services compa-
     7  ny, which is located in a county with a  population  of  less  than  two
     8  hundred  fifty thousand, a rate for any gas or electric service utilized
     9  exclusively in connection with such company greater than  the  rates  or
    10  charges charged, demanded, collected or received by such gas corporation

    11  or electric corporation from any domestic residential consumer receiving
    12  single-phase service within the same county.
    13    §  2.  This  act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall
    14  have become a law.
