AN ACT making an appropriation to the department of state for technical
assistance grants to be awarded to each of the five boroughs of the
city of New York
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The sum of two million five hundred thousand dollars
2 ($2,500,000), or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appro-
3 priated to the department of state from any moneys in the state treasury
4 in the general fund to the credit of the local assistance account not
5 otherwise appropriated for technical assistance grants to be awarded to
6 each of the five boroughs of the city of New York. One grant shall be
7 awarded to a not-for-profit corporation in each borough to provide
8 legal, technical and professional expertise for assistance to other
9 not-for-profit corporations and community boards regarding zoning, plan-
10 ning, architecture, historic preservation, building and construction
11 issues in each of such boroughs. Such grants shall be awarded through a
12 request for proposals process. The not-for-profit grant recipient in
13 each borough shall receive no less than two hundred fifty thousand
14 dollars, and no more than seven hundred fifty thousand dollars. Such
15 sum shall be payable on the audit and warrant of the state comptroller
16 on vouchers certified or approved by the secretary of state, or his or
17 her duly designated representative in the manner provided by law.
18 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
