        AN ACT to amend the general business law, in relation  to  the  sale  of
          alcoholic beverages at customer-operated point-of-sale stations
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-

        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. The general business law is amended by adding a new section
     2  399-eee to read as follows:
     3    § 399-eee. Prohibited sale of alcoholic beverages at customer-operated
     4  point-of-sale stations. 1. Sale of alcoholic beverages by retail  estab-
     5  lishments  licensed  pursuant  to  the alcoholic beverage control law is
     6  prohibited at customer-operated point-of-sale stations.
     7    2. For purposes  of  this  section,  "customer-operated  point-of-sale
     8  station"  means a self-scanning checkout where customers pay for and bag
     9  their own merchandise without interacting with a human cashier.
    10    3. Violation of this section shall be subject to a  fine  of  no  less
    11  than five hundred dollars and no more than one thousand dollars.

    12    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
