AN ACT to amend the education law and the social services law, in
relation to notifying individuals that certain work-study, internship,
externship or other work placements offered by institutions of higher
education meet the work requirements of title nine-B of article five
of the social services law
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Part 4 of article 14 of the education law is amended by
2 adding a new section 685 to read as follows:
3 § 685. Work-study, internship, externship or other work placements.
4 Any CUNY, SUNY or other degree granting institution providing work-stu-
5 dy, internship, externship or other work placements that are part of the
6 curriculum shall notify applicants on the application forms that such
7 work-study, internship, externship or other work placements that are
8 part of the curriculum meet the work requirements of title nine-B of
9 article five of the social services law for public assistance.
10 § 2. The social services law is amended by adding a new section 337-a
11 to read as follows:
12 § 337-a. Notification to applicants. The department shall notify
13 applicants on application forms that certain CUNY, SUNY or other degree
14 granting institution providing work-study, internship, externship or
15 other work placements that are part of the curriculum, meet the work
16 requirements of this title.
17 § 3. This act shall take effect on the sixtieth day after it shall
18 have become a law.
