        Introduced  by M. of A. ORTIZ -- read once and referred to the Committee
          on Education
 
        AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to working as a  teaching
          assistant accruing time towards certification
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Section 3006 of the education law is amended  by  adding  a
     2  new subdivision 4 to read as follows:
     3    4.  Where  teaching  experience  is  required  to  receive or maintain
     4  certification the commissioner shall credit  experience  as  a  teaching
     5  assistant towards such requirement.
     6    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
