The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
Section 1. This act shall be known and may be cited as the "Jobs for
the Twenty-First Century Tuition Assistance Grant Program".
§ 2. The education law is amended by adding a new section 667-d to
read as follows:
§ 667-d. Tuition assistance grant program. 1. In calculating the maxi-
mum award of aid under the tuition assistance program, students who
agree to pursue a degree in mathematics, the physical sciences, or engi-
neering shall receive an additional grant equal to twenty percent of

student already receives the maximum authorized tuition assistance
award, such student will receive a stipend in the amount equal to the

2. All students agreeing to participate in the tuition assistance
grant program shall sign a contract with the higher education services
corporation in which he or she commits to complete a degree in the
approved majors. If a student fails to receive his or her degree in an
approved major within six years of the initial award, the state may
require such student to reimburse the state an amount equal to the addi-
tional grant awarded pursuant to this section.
§ 3. This act shall take effect on January 1, 2010, provided, however,
that the higher education services corporation is authorized and
