        AN ACT to amend the  public  officers  law,  in  relation  to  requiring
          disclosure  of  certain  information by members of the legislature who
          are practicing attorneys
 

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Subparagraph (b) of paragraph 8 of subdivision 3 of section
     2  73-a  of the public officers law, as added by chapter 813 of the laws of
     3  1987, is relettered subparagraph (c) and a new subparagraph (b) is added
     4  to read as follows:
     5    (b) If the reporting individual is a member  of  the  legislature  and
     6  such  individual  practices  law  with  a  firm  or corporation, give an
     7  accounting of the number of hours the individual works at  the  firm  or
     8  corporation  for  the  year  with a general description of the principal
     9  subject areas of matters undertaken by such individual and the number of
    10  cases such individual handled for the year. Do  not  list  the  name  of

    11  individual clients.

    17    §  2. Subparagraph (c) of paragraph 8 of subdivision 3 of section 73-a
    18  of the public officers law, as amended by section 5 of part A of chapter
    19  399 of the laws of 2011,  is  relettered  subparagraph  (d)  and  a  new
    20  subparagraph (c) is added to read as follows:
    21    (c)  If  the  reporting  individual is a member of the legislature and
    22  such individual practices law  with  a  firm  or  corporation,  give  an

    23  accounting  of  the  number of hours the individual works at the firm or
    24  corporation for the year with a general  description  of  the  principal
    25  subject areas of matters undertaken by such individual and the number of
    26  cases such individual handled for the year.
 
         EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets
                              [ ] is old law to be omitted.

     6    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately, provided that section two
     7  of this act shall take effect on the same date and in the same manner as
