        AN  ACT  to authorize a certain individual to take the competitive civil
          service examination and be placed on the eligible list for appointment
          as a full-time police officer for the village of  Southampton,  county
          of Suffolk
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Notwithstanding section 58 of the civil service law or  any
     2  other  law  to  the  contrary, Gregg Keghlian, who has been continuously
     3  employed by the village of Southampton, in the county of Suffolk,  as  a
     4  full-time  court  officer  and  part-time police officer with the police
     5  department of the village of Southampton, shall be eligible to take  the

     6  competitive civil service examination for the position of police officer
     7  and shall, contingent upon his score on such examination, be eligible to
     8  be  placed  on  the  eligible list for appointment as a full-time police
     9  officer with the police department of such village.
    10    § 2. Gregg Keghlian shall  be  otherwise  subject  to  the  merit  and
    11  fitness  provisions  of  the  civil  service law applicable to full-time
    12  police officers.
    13    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
