AN ACT to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to big
game hunting in the counties of Broome, Chenango and Tioga
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The opening paragraph and items (f) and (i) of paragraph a
2 of subdivision 2 of section 11-0907 of the environmental conservation
3 law, the opening paragraph as amended by section 11 of chapter 483 of
4 the laws of 2010, item (f) as amended by chapter 323 of the laws of 2011
5 and item (i) as separately amended by chapters 321 and 326 of the laws
6 of 2011, are amended and a new item (k) is added to read as follows:
7 Regular open hunting seasons for [deer] big game are established sepa-
8 rately for the named regions or parts of regions, or named counties
9 listed in column one of the table set forth in this subdivision, and are
10 specified as seasons for taking by pistol, rifle, shotgun, crossbow or
11 long bow, or for taking by shotgun or long bow only, or for taking by
12 long bow only, as indicated in column three entitled "Manner of Taking".
13 Where taking of big game by shotgun is permitted by this chapter such
14 shotgun may contain rifling in all or a portion of the barrel, provided,
15 however, if the barrel or a portion thereof does contain rifling only
16 shells having non-metallic cases, except for the base, may be used. In
17 the areas identified in column one except in the "closed areas" speci-
18 fied in subdivision 5 the game specified in column two may be taken in
19 the open season stated in column two immediately following the specifi-
20 cation of the game, in the manner specified in column three.
21 (f) Southern tier, Deer, first Monday Pistol, shotgun,
22 central and Western after November 15 crossbow,
23 region, except those through first Tuesday muzzle loading firearm
24 counties or portions after December 7 or long bow only
25 thereof listed in

41 § 5. This act shall take effect immediately, provided that the amend-
42 ments to paragraph a of subdivision 2 of section 11-0907 of the environ-
43 mental conservation law made by section one of this act shall be subject
44 to the expiration and reversion of such paragraph pursuant to chapter
45 600 of the laws of 1993, as amended, when upon such date the provisions
46 of section two of this act shall take effect; the amendments to para-
47 graph a of subdivision 2 of section 11-0907 of the environmental conser-
48 vation law made by section two of this act shall be subject to the expi-
49 ration and reversion of such item pursuant to section 13 of chapter 600
50 of the laws of 1993, as amended, when upon such date the provisions of
51 section three of this act shall take effect; provided further, that the
52 amendments to item (i) of paragraph a of subdivision 2 of section

1 11-0907 of the environmental conservation law made by section three of
2 this act shall be subject to the expiration and reversion of such item
3 pursuant to section 17 of chapter 483 of the laws of 2010, as amended,
4 when upon such date the provisions of section four of this act shall
5 take effect.
