        Introduced  by M. of A. QUART -- read once and referred to the Committee
          on Codes
 
        AN ACT to amend the penal law, in relation to possession  of  a  gravity
          knife  for  purposes  of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth
          degree
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 

     1    Section  1.   Subdivisions 1 and 2 of section 265.01 of the penal law,
     2  subdivision 1 as amended by chapter 257 of the laws of 2008 and subdivi-
     3  sion 2 as amended by chapter 220 of the laws of  1988,  are  amended  to
     4  read as follows:
     5    (1)  He  or she possesses any firearm, electronic dart gun, electronic
     6  stun gun, [gravity knife,] switchblade  knife,  pilum  ballistic  knife,
     7  metal  knuckle  knife,  cane  sword, billy, blackjack, bludgeon, plastic
     8  knuckles, metal knuckles, chuka stick, sand bag,  sandclub,  wrist-brace
     9  type slingshot or slungshot, shirken or "Kung Fu star"; or
    10    (2)  He  or  she  possesses  any dagger, dangerous knife, dirk, razor,
    11  stiletto, gravity knife, imitation pistol, or  any  other  dangerous  or
    12  deadly  instrument  or  weapon  with  intent  to use the same unlawfully
    13  against another; or

    14    § 2. This act shall take effect on the first of November next succeed-
    15  ing the date on which it shall have become a law.
