          on Children and Families
 
        AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to exempting teach-
          ers from additional certifications or  prerequisites  associated  with
          running certain after-school programs
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Subdivision (i) of section 17 of the social  services  law,
     2  as  relettered  by  section  1  of part K-3 of chapter 57 of the laws of
     3  2007, is relettered subdivision (j) and a new subdivision (i)  is  added
     4  to read as follows:
     5    (i) grant any teacher certified in accordance with 8 NYCRR Part 80, an
     6  exemption  from any additional certification or prerequisite required to
     7  operate any after-school program operated by the office of children  and
     8  family services, or an after-school program for children run by a public
     9  school  district  or  by  a private school or academy which is providing
    10  elementary or secondary  education  or  both,  in  accordance  with  the
    11  compulsory  education  requirements  of the education law, provided that
    12  the kindergarten,  pre-kindergarten,  nursery  school,  or  after-school
    13  program  is  located  on  the premises or campus where the elementary or
    14  secondary education is provided;
    15    § 2. This act shall take effect on the sixtieth  day  after  it  shall
    16  have  become  a  law; provided, however, that effective immediately, the
    17  addition, amendment and/or repeal of any rule  or  regulation  necessary
    18  for  the implementation of this act on its effective date are authorized
    19  to be made and completed on or before such effective date.
