Go to top STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 10195 IN ASSEMBLY March 10, 2010 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. LANCMAN -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Cities AN ACT to amend the municipal home rule law, in relation to requiring community boards to review and hold public hearings on the recommenda- tions made by a city charter revision commission within twenty days after such commission publishes its findings The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. This act shall be known and may be cited as the "community 2 participation in charter revision act". 3 § 2. Section 36 of the municipal home rule law is amended by adding a 4 new subdivision 7 to read as follows: 5 7. Within twenty days after a charter commission established pursuant 6 to this section makes its recommendations and publishes its findings, 7 community boards in cities of one million or more inhabitants shall 8 review and hold public hearings on such recommendations and findings, 9 and may pass a resolution advising support, opposition or modification 10 of such recommendations and findings. 11 § 3.
