AN ACT relating to the eligibility of Earnest Cawley Jr. to take the
competitive civil service examination for the position of police offi-
cer in the town of Colchester, in the county of Delaware and to be
placed on the eligibility list for appointment as a full-time police
officer
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the civil
2 service law or any other provision of law to the contrary, Earnest
3 Cawley Jr., who has continuously served as a part-time police officer
4 for the village of Cooperstown, village of Walton, and the town of
5 Colchester, shall be eligible to take the competitive civil service
6 examination for the position of police officer and shall, contingent
7 upon his scores on such examination, be eligible to be placed on the
8 eligibility list for appointment as a full-time police officer for the
9 town of Colchester.
10 § 2. Earnest Cawley Jr. shall otherwise be subject to the merit and
11 fitness provisions of the civil service law applicable to full-time
12 police officers.
13 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
