COMMENDING St. Francis College upon the occasion
of hosting the Nigerian Film Festival from February
12-13, 2019
WHEREAS, The arts, in whatever form depicted, are central to human
expression; they are truly a universal language and their contribution
to the development of friendship and understanding among all peoples
cannot be underestimated; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to call attention
to those events which serve to enhance the cultural enrichment of the
State of New York and preserve the heritage of African Americans; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend St. Francis College upon the occasion of hosting the Nigerian
Film Festival from February 12-13, 2019, in the SFC Auditorium at the
College in Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Nigerian Film Festival is an experience that brings
internationally recognized film makers of African influence to colleges
and universities in America; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor and pay
tribute to those individuals whose commitment and creative talents have
contributed to the entertainment and cultural enrichment of the citizens
of the State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend St. Francis College upon the occasion of hosting the Nigerian
Film Festival from February 12-13, 2019; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to St. Francis College.
