MEMORIALIZING Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim
May 16-22, 2021, as Public Works Week in the State
of New York
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
official weeks that are set aside to appreciate the knowledge and skills
public works professionals bring for the betterment of the lives of
citizens of New York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim May 16-22, 2021, as
Public Works Week in the State of New York, in conjunction with the
observance of National Public Works Week; and
WHEREAS, Every year National Public Works Week gets bigger and
better; the number of participating municipalities continues to grow,
which means the number of citizens who are exposed to the value of
public works grows; and
WHEREAS, One of the main goals is to educate the general public
about the value and necessities of public works projects throughout
North America; and
WHEREAS, From providing clean water to disposing of solid waste, to
building roads and bridges or planning for and implementing mass
transit, to removing snow on roadways or devising emergency management
strategies to meet natural or manmade disasters, public works services
determine a society's quality of life; and
WHEREAS, New York State, and the entire Nation salutes and thanks
the tens of thousands of public work professionals who diligently work
every day to improve the quality of life for the residents of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim May 16-22, 2021, as
Public Works Week in the State of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of
New York.
