HONORING Lieutenant Michael Sowich upon the
occasion of his retirement after 25 years of
distinguished service to the Oneida County Sheriff's
Office
WHEREAS, Law enforcement officers from the State of New York put
their lives on the line day in and day out for the citizens of this
great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished officers who would devote themselves to public
service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing for the
care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this great
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their
exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others; Officer Michael
Sowich is one such individual; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Lieutenant
Michael Sowich upon the occasion of his retirement after 25 years of
distinguished service to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his illustrious tenure, Lieutenant Michael
Sowich epitomized the role and accentuated the ideals of an outstanding
community police officer; and
WHEREAS, In 1996, Michael Sowich began his career in the Oneida
County Sheriff's Office; he was then promoted to Sergeant in 2001 before
earning the rank of Lieutenant in 2011, the esteemed position from which
he will retire; and
WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous Good Conduct, Honroable Service,
Ready Commendation and Outstanding Attendance awards and accolades
throughout his distinguished career, Lieutenant Michael Sowich has
received a multitude of departmental recognitions for his outstanding
service to the citizens of Oneida County; his accomplishments are both
numerous and notable; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lieutenant Michael Sowich upon the occasion of his retirement, and
to wish him well in all his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Lieutenant Michael Sowich.
