Senate Resolution No. 1915

        COMMEMORATING  Univision's  inaugural broadcast of
        Premios Soberanos in  New  York  State,  the  recent
        renaming  of  a  street  in  Washington  Heights  to
        "Premios Soberanos Way" on March 12, 2024,  and  the
        visionary   leadership   of   ACROARTE   for   their
        exceptional contributions to the Dominican community
        in the State of New York
 
  WHEREAS, The State of New York, a melting pot of cultural  diversity
and   artistic   achievement,  proudly  recognizes  and  celebrates  the
contributions of its vibrant Dominican community to the state's cultural
fabric; and
 
  WHEREAS, This  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to  commemorate
Univision's  inaugural broadcast of Premios Soberanos in New York State,
the recent renaming of  a  street  in  Washington  Heights  to  "Premios
Soberanos  Way"  on  March  12,  2024,  and  the visionary leadership of
ACROARTE for their exceptional contributions to the Dominican  community
in the State of New York; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Since  its  inception  in  1985,  "Premios  Soberanos" has
celebrated  its  first  United  States  broadcast  through  a   historic
collaboration  with  Univision New York, allowing the Hispanic community
in New York  to  engage  with  this  prestigious  ceremony  that  honors
excellence  in  film,  classical  arts,  theater, music, television, and
radio; and
 
  WHEREAS, This event's expansion to the United  States,  specifically
its  broadcast  across  New York, signifies the increasing influence and
importance of the "Premios Soberanos," connecting the  entire  Dominican
and  Hispanic  communities  in the State of New York with their cultural
heritage and bringing Dominican culture to the  forefront  of  a  global
audience; and
 
  WHEREAS,  The  strategic  foresight and leadership of Wanda Sanchez,
President  of  ACROARTE,  alongside  the  dedication  of  the   "Premios
Soberanos"  team,  have  been  crucial  in  showcasing  this event on an
international  stage,  thus  promoting  Dominican  cultural   excellence
worldwide; and
 
  WHEREAS,  The  State  of  New York further acknowledges the cultural
significance  of  the  "Premios  Soberanos"  by  renaming  a  street  in
Washington  Heights, a testament to the enduring impact of this event on
the local community and its contribution to the multicultural  landscape
of New York; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That this Legislative Body pauses in its deliberations to
extend its heartfelt congratulations  to  "Premios  Soberanos"  and  its
President,  Wanda  Sanchez,  on  its  remarkable expansion and inaugural
broadcast in New York, and for its pivotal role  in  enhancing  cultural
connections  and enriching the cultural diversity of New York; and be it
further
 
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to the President of ACROARTE, Wanda Sanchez.
