CONGRATULATING Braidon Woodward upon the occasion
of capturing the 170-pound Division Wrestling Title
at the NYSPHSAA Boys Wrestling Championships on
February 24, 2024
WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate
Braidon Woodward, a member of the Palmyra-Macedon Red Raiders Men's
Wrestling Team, upon the occasion of capturing the 170-pound Division
Wrestling Title at the NYSPHSAA Boys Wrestling Championships on
Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the MVP Arena in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, In front of a sold-out crowd and a fan base of family,
friends and teammates, Braidon Woodward defeated all his opponents,
concluding his high school wrestling career with a 54-1 senior season
record; after graduating, he will continue his wrestling career at the
University of Buffalo; and
WHEREAS, In a sport such as wrestling, which demands athletic
prowess, speed and agility, Head Coach John Burgess worked hard to hone
the skills of this champion, teaching this outstanding athlete lessons
which will prove invaluable both on and off the mat; and
WHEREAS, Braidon Woodward, with the support of his parents, Mike and
Hillary Woodward, has clearly utilized dedication, determination and
teamwork in providing a lasting contribution to the spirit of excellence
which is a tradition of his school; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Braidon Woodward upon the occasion of capturing the
170-pound Division Wrestling Title at the NYSPHSAA Boys Wrestling
Championships on February 24, 2024; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Braidon Woodward, Head Coach John Burgess, Athletic
Director Thomas Schmandt, and School Superintendent Dr. Robert Ike.
