Senate Resolution No. 2412

        CONGRATULATING  Stanley Potrzeba upon the occasion
        of celebrating his 102nd Birthday
 
  WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and  knowledge
to  the  increasingly  active  roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a  vital  part  of,  and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
 
  WHEREAS,  It  is  the custom of this Legislative Body to commemorate
and recognize certain milestones celebrated by citizens  of  this  great
Empire State; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to
congratulate Stanley Potrzeba upon the occasion of his 102nd Birthday to
be celebrated on Saturday, May 18, 2024; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Furthermore,  in  recognition  of his valiant service as a
member of the United States Navy during World War II, the Village of New
York Mills will present Stanley Potrzeba with a special Veteran's Banner
at the New York Mills Senior Center on Tuesday, May 14, 2024; and
 
  WHEREAS, Born in Massachusetts on May 18, 1922, Stanley Potrzeba and
his family moved to New York Mills in 1925; and
 
  WHEREAS, Stanley  Potrzeba  was  known  as  a  "Jack-of-all-trades,"
having worked as a Glazer, Tool Maker, Corduroy Cutter and Steam Fitter;
and
 
  WHEREAS,  In  addition  to  serving  his  country as a member of the
United States Navy from 1944-46, Stanley Potrzeba worked at an Army  Air
Corp base as a fire/crash rescue member; and
 
  WHEREAS,  With  a  steadfast  and  unwavering  commitment  to  local
veterans, Stanley Potrzeba was a founding member and  Commander  of  the
Polish  Legion  of  American  Veterans, Edward Bator Post No. 21; he was
also an active member of the  New  Hartford  Post  American  Legion  and
Whitestown Overseas Veterans Association; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Stanley Potrzeba, with his zest for life, has inspired and
enhanced the lives of his family and friends; and
 
  WHEREAS, This exceptional centenarian has experienced the incredible
joys and sorrows characteristic of  and  reserved  for  those  with  the
stamina and courage to savor a full life; and
 
  WHEREAS, Stanley Potrzeba has enriched the lives of those around him
through  his joyous and sincere love for others and through the profound
charm and wisdom which comes only from a fullness of years; and
 
  WHEREAS, It is the intent  of  this  Legislative  Body  to  publicly
recognize  those  who  have  reached  such a remarkable age and who have
witnessed and celebrated the  innovations,  cultural  developments,  and
 
awesome  achievements  of  this  country  during the last century, while
themselves contributing to the  growth  and  excellence  of  this  great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Stanley Potrzeba upon the occasion of celebrating his 102nd
Birthday; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Stanley Potrzeba.
