Senate Resolution No. 746

        MOURNING  the  death  of Timothy P. Ward, owner of
        McGirk's  Irish  Pub,  distinguished   citizen   and
        devoted member of the Broome County Celtic Pipes and
        Drum Band
 
  WHEREAS, There are certain outstanding members of our community who,
through  their selfless commitment and dedication, have served to better
the quality of life in our community and have had a measurable  positive
impact  on  the  lives  of  its  residents; Timothy P. Ward was one such
individual; and
 
  WHEREAS,  It  is  with  great  sorrow  and  deep  regret  that  this
Legislative  Body  records  the  passing  of Timothy P. Ward, noting the
significance of his purposeful life and accomplishments; and
 
  WHEREAS, The Southern Tier of New  York  is  mourning  the  loss  of
Timothy  P.    Ward  of Vestal, New York, who died on Saturday, June 20,
2020; and
 
  WHEREAS, This extraordinary man truly lived a life most people dream
of; never a day went by when laughter, kindness and joy didn't  dominate
his  life;  he  will  be  remembered  for  his  love  of  family and his
dedication to his many friends; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Never  one  to  be   a   spectator,   Timothy   P.   Ward,
affectionately known as Tim, was a lifeforce for every event; from being
at  the  hospital  when his grandchildren were born, to his first Yankee
game with his son-in-law and close friends where  he  was  "Fan  of  the
Game" and featured twice on the Jumbotron; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Furthermore,  with  age  never  really  a  factor for this
adventurous man, he was renowned in his family for crowd surfing  during
a  Collective Soul concert just as he was about to become a grandfather;
and
 
  WHEREAS, At a young  age,  Timothy  P.  Ward  and  his  family  were
featured  in  the  Press and Sun-Bulletin for the year-long camping trip
they took around the United States; upon returning from the  voyage,  he
met and wed the love of his life, the former Suzanne Spring; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Years  later,  the  Ward family embarked on another family
bonding venture when they created The Pond where they held annual family
reunions with many generations; with no electricity  or  plumbing,  only
nature, The Pond became a place where Timothy P. Ward, along with family
members  and  friends,  shared countless bonfires, parties and memories;
and
 
  WHEREAS, Timothy P. Ward sincerely made an impact on everyone he met
through his career paths at Sugarman's, Dick's, IBM, Southern Tier  Wind
Sports,  Celtic  Communication,  Portable  Pubs and his favorite venture
ever, as owner of McGirk's Irish Pub; and
 
  WHEREAS, More than just a job, McGirk's  was  truly  a  passion  for
Timothy  P.  Ward;  it  was  a  place  where he saw old friends and made
wonderful new ones; his love and support of live music was  overwhelming
and  will  continue on, even in his death, with every note played there;
and
 
  WHEREAS, A bagpiper for the Broome County Celtic Pipes and Drum Band
since 1990, Timothy P. Ward could be found many evenings at the bar with
his pipes in hand playing along with some of his favorite musicians; and
 
  WHEREAS, Predeceased by his father, Richard P. Ward and his in-laws,
Dr.  John F. Spring and Anne Gray Spring; Timothy P. Ward is survived by
his wife, Suzanne; two daughters, Kari and Megan; his son-in-law, Brian;
three  granddaughters,  Ania, Jadyn and Cailey; his mother, Phyllis; and
his siblings, Kathleen, Mike, David, Susan and Brian;  as  well  as  his
family at McGirk's and the Broome County Celtic Pipes and Drum Band; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Timothy  P.  Ward's  infinite selflessness and benevolence
will shine on through his family's vivid and happy memories; his insight
and strength will forever serve as a beacon of love, light and  hope  to
the countless lives he touched; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Armed  with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Timothy P. Ward leaves  behind  a  legacy  which  will  long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
who were privileged to have known and loved such an amazing man; he will
be  deeply  missed  and  truly  merits  the  grateful  tribute  of  this
Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
mourn  the  death  of  Timothy  P.  Ward,  and  to  express  its deepest
condolences to his family; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to the family of Timothy P. Ward.
