          printed to be committed to the Committee on Elections
 
        AN ACT to amend the  election  law,  in  relation  to  requiring  widely
          compatible software electronic filing of campaign receipts and expend-
          itures
 

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subdivision 9-A of section  3-102  of  the
     2  election  law, as amended by chapter 406 of the laws of 2005, is amended
     3  to read as follows:
     4    (a) develop an electronic reporting system to process  the  statements
     5  of campaign receipts, contributions, transfers and expenditures required
     6  to  be  filed  with any board of elections pursuant to the provisions of
     7  sections 14-102 and 14-104 of this  chapter  which  is  compatible  with
     8  widely  used computer programs which process and store information simi-
     9  lar to that which is required by such sections;
    10    § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after
    11  it shall have become a law.
