        AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to  making  the
          traffic  infraction  leaving  scene of an incident without reporting a
          class A misdemeanor
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  The  closing paragraph of subdivision 1 of section 600 of
     2  the vehicle and traffic law, as amended by chapter 49  of  the  laws  of
     3  2005, is amended to read as follows:
     4    A violation of the provisions of paragraph a of this subdivision shall
     5  constitute  a  [traffic  infraction] class A misdemeanor punishable by a
     6  fine of [up to two] not less than five hundred [fifty] nor more than one
     7  thousand dollars [or a sentence of imprisonment for up to  fifteen  days
     8  or  both  such fine and imprisonment] in addition to any other penalties
     9  provided by law.
    10    § 2. This act shall take effect on the first of November next succeed-
    11  ing the date on which it shall have become a law.
