        Introduced  by  Sen.  LIBOUS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation
 
        AN ACT to amend the vehicle and  traffic  law,  in  relation  to  custom
          plates for veterans
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. The vehicle and traffic law is  amended  by  adding  a  new
     2  section 404-x to read as follows:
     3    §  404-x.  Custom plates for veterans, waiver of fee.  Notwithstanding
     4  any other provision of law to the contrary, the thirty-eight dollar  and
     5  seventy-five cents fee for custom plates is hereby waived in the case of
     6  an application therefor by any veteran of service in the armed forces of
     7  the  United  States.  This waiver applies only to the fee for the custom
     8  plate and does not apply to the veteran custom plate with vanity letter-
     9  ing.
    10    § 2. This act shall take effect on the first of  May  next  succeeding
    11  the date on which it shall have become a law.
