        Introduced  by  Sen.  GOLDEN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules
 
        AN ACT to amend the real property tax  law,  in  relation  to  notifying
          certain  tenants of the senior citizen rent increase exemption program
          and the disability rent increase exemption program
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Subdivision 3 of section 467-b of the real property tax law
     2  is amended by adding a new paragraph i to read as follows:
     3    i.  (1)  the  entity  administering the program shall develop informa-
     4  tional material describing eligibility for and benefits  of  the  senior
     5  citizen rent increase exemption program and the disability rent increase
     6  exemption  program administered pursuant to this section, and, how addi-
     7  tional information can be obtained regarding these programs. Such infor-
     8  mational material shall be provided to  landlords  of  housing  accommo-
     9  dations  subject  to  provisions  of  the  local  emergency housing rent
    10  control act, the emergency tenant protection act  of  nineteen  seventy-
    11  four  or  any local laws enacted pursuant thereto, the emergency housing
    12  rent control law, and the rent stabilization  law  of  nineteen  hundred
    13  sixty-nine.
    14    (2)  a  landlord of any housing accommodation subject to provisions of
    15  the local emergency housing  rent  control  act,  the  emergency  tenant
    16  protection act of nineteen seventy-four or any local laws enacted pursu-
    17  ant thereto, the emergency housing rent control law or the rent stabili-
    18  zation law of nineteen hundred sixty-nine shall, at least once annually,
    19  including with a new lease and all renewal leases delivered to the occu-
    20  pant  of such accommodation, provide the informational material describ-
    21  ing eligibility for and the benefits of the senior citizen rent increase
    22  exemption program and the disability rent increase exemption program, as
    23  provided by the entity administering the program  pursuant  to  subpara-
    24  graph one of this paragraph.

     1    §  2.  This  act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall
     2  have become a law, provided, however, that the amendments to subdivision
     3  3 of section 467-b of the real property tax law made by section  one  of
     4  this  act  shall  not affect the expiration of such section and shall be
     5  deemed to expire therewith.
